Goldendoodle
Goldendoodles are a great example of what is known as a designer breed. This beautiful dog is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle and was first bred in the 1990s. Bullmastiff
The fact that these dogs are naturally suspicious of strangers means that you’d need to get an early start on their training and socializing. And they’re famous for drooling. Bullmastiffs are intelligent and easy-going, but also adorable, incredibly loving, and loyal. However, their larger size requires supervision around children, and they do not tend to get along well with other members of the animal kingdom. The Bullmastiff has been around since the 1900s and was initially bred in Britain to fight off poachers. Today, it seems that he’s more intent on being the center of attention in a devoted home.
French Bulldog

He doesn’t just thrive on attention, he demands it. This breed is ideal for a single-person home because he loves competing for attention. He will be loyal and devoted to you, as long as he is the center of your world! Frenchies hail from France and date back to the 1800s. They’re said to be dogs of the upper class, and somehow it fits, given that they do generally attract owners who love the good life.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
If we could go back in time, we would probably find the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel warming the lap of a member of royalty in an English castle in the 16th century. They were common as ladies’ pets back then, hence the royal title added to their names. This breed still loves to cuddle even today, and they love being around children too. They are affectionate, playful, and very happy, making them perfect family dogs. Give them love, and you can expect nothing less back!
Basset Hound
These bulky, short-legged, and long-eared dogs have a beautiful easy-going nature that is perfect for other dogs and families with kids. They are smart but do require a firm pack leader because, well, they do love the finer things in life and can tend to overindulge. This breed originated in the 1500s in France, and we’re initially bred for hunting because of their excellent scenting skill. They are however a little on the stubborn side and need solid training from as early on as possible. They are gentle and will thrive in a loving environment.
Irish Wolfhound
As beautiful as this dog is, you should know from the start that the Irish Wolfhound is arguably the tallest breed in the world. Apartment living is therefore not an ideal option since this type of dog needs lots of space. Irish Wolfhounds are incredibly friendly with families, other dogs, and even strangers. They’re also quite easy to train with low energy levels, although they do love chasing wildlife. This breed’s history dates back as long as 391 AD in Rome, but the dogs we have today can be traced back to the 1800s. Irish Wolfhounds have huge hearts and are generally very passive creatures. These gentle giants do however prefer cooler environments, and you’re likely to find him seeking out an uncarpeted area to relax in.
